CAMERA AND LENSES- NIKON, CANON OR SONY

Posted by Rupesh Kumar Karki
Few questions come to every beginner photographer and as I already told you that I am a hobbyist so the same questions came to my mind. I used to remain restless to know What, Which, Where and How? So the same questions that aroused in my mind I would like to share today and if these questions answer could help you in some or the other way it will be a matter of great happiness even for me.
Let us start with few questions that aroused in my mind:
I was previously using Sony cyber shot and, therefore, I wasn't aware of DSLR's, so when I started thinking of DSLR, the first question that came to my mind was "I go for which one- Nikon, Canon or Sony and which model?"

Nikon-Canon-Sony

The answer to this question wasn't that much simpler as I thought. I started enquiring about the camera's price and while collecting this data I got a booklet from the dealers and because of which my concern shifted from price to specifications. While reading specifications I came to know about-
  • sensor size
  • fps
  • Megapixels
  • Battery
  • ISO.
Now I was comparing Price and Specifications while reading specification I came across Lenses and after reading about lenses my curiosity increased and again one question came to my mind "what are the types of lenses?"
To know more about the type, price, and quality of lenses I started exploring the internet, books and market to know about different lenses of different brands and their quality and benefits. From them, I came to know that there are basically-
  • Wide Angle Lens
  • Normal Lens
  • Telephoto Lens
This is how I tried to solve all the questions that came to my mind and sometimes it is better to consult someone good, whom you know and is in this field. Knowledge is something which you earn with your experience and learning attitude, even a good perfectionist tries to learn from the available resources that resource could be even a novice.
When we talk about the camera and its minute details one should carry out his research on reviews of the camera of a particular brand and the upcoming camera or accessories launching in the market. The process of purchasing anything is to get the details of each and everything and there are many experts who carry out testing of cameras. You can visit such websites where reviews are given in order to know more details on camera. One of the webpage where you can find such details is REVIEW.COM, here you could find some detail information that might help you in taking firm decision on purchase of a particular brand's camera.
One line that every photographer should remember is that a camera is just a tool in your bag and it is your passion, vision, hard work, creativity, ideas, lighting condition, post-processing and sheer determination takes you to a new level of satisfaction in your image  and to gain this even the best camera in this world can't give you that quality or best image.
Now, I come to the topic of how I selected my camera, mainly I decided on the basis of sensor size, megapixel, and ISO and above all my budget that I kept for this and this is how I selected my camera. I won't shy to share that I even didn't know how to operate DSLR when it came to my hand and I shot keeping it in AUTO mode and now I can guess well on looking at the lighting condition, what should be the settings and how to take a snap in a particular lighting condition.
This nothing but a photographer's view how he assumes and applies the settings because with DSLR you have all the options of exploring and utilizing them as per the need and condition.
Even today many gears are not with me but I try to utilize those things which are easily available at home or DIY (Do It Yourself) items.
The conclusion of above is if you want to buy a camera then the first thing that matters is the Price because the price range of not only camera but also of the lenses decides which type of camera you have to purchase even at the entry level. The second thing is Megapixel, as it gives you the size the of the image. The third thing is ISO because it defines the sensor sensitivity to light, as the higher ISO creates more noise in image and now the cameras are coming with the technology that noise is not that much even in higher ISO as much as 25600 and if you are shooting in RAW then this can be reduced or removed in post-processing.
This is the first question that came to my mind and I shared with you if you wish to share your experience in terms of first camera purchase that could be compact or DSLR.
Do comment below whether you liked the information that I shared or there is something that I didn't mention.
